APPR Plan

  • On April 13, 2015, the Governor signed Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2015 creating Education Law §3012-d, which establishes a new evaluation system for classroom teachers and building principals.  For annual professional performance reviews conducted by the district during the 2015-2016 school year and thereafter, the district must ensure that classroom teacher and building principal reviews are conducted pursuant to Education Law §3012-d.  [30-3(a)];

    Under §3012-d, the Board of Education is required to have a new APPR plan approved by the commissioner by November 15, 2015, unless the district seeks a Hardship Waiver and has a waiver approved by the November 15th date.  Should the district seek a waiver, the district must have a new APPR plan approved by the expiration of that waiver, unless additional waivers are sought.  The district must have an APPR plan approved by the State at the latest by September 1, 2016.

    The district’s APPR plan must be filed in the district's office and made available on the district’s website no later than September 10th of each school year, or within ten days after state approval, whichever shall later occur.  [30-3.3(a)(2)]
